Jagex has announced RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a new open-world survival crafting game set in the RuneScape universe. The game will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam in Spring 2025.
Set in the untamed lands of Ashenfall, RuneScape: Dragonwilds takes players to an uncharted continent in Gielinor where ancient dragons have awakened. Players must gather resources, craft weapons and tools, build shelters, and master survival skills to withstand the harsh environment. The ultimate goal is to grow in power and challenge the formidable Dragon Queen.
The game supports solo and cooperative play for up to four players. A key feature is the use of Anima, a mystical force that allows players to conjure tools, enhance abilities, and traverse the world in unique ways. Whether it’s summoning spectral axes for woodcutting or using wind runes to glide over landscapes, Anima enhances the survival and exploration experience.
- Survival and Crafting: Gather materials, craft gear, and construct bases to withstand the dangers of Ashenfall.
- Cooperative Multiplayer: Team up with up to three other players to explore, build, and battle together.
- Dynamic Combat: Face off against wildlife, enemies, and the powerful Dragon Queen in strategic battles.
- Magic-Infused Gameplay: Utilize Anima to manipulate the world, craft unique items, and enhance exploration.
- Community-Driven Development: Built on Unreal Engine 5, RuneScape: Dragonwilds incorporates player feedback from early testing phases.

Jagex has emphasized that community input is central to the game’s development. The studio has already conducted closed alpha tests and plans to gather further feedback throughout Early Access. More details will be revealed in an upcoming developer livestream on April 15 at 9:00 AM PT.
