The Crosswind devs have finally given us a peek behind the curtain with their first devblog, breaking down what makes this pirate survival MMO special. They’re aiming for a mix of intense naval battles, on-foot combat, and deep survival mechanics, all set in a world full of secrets and danger.
Ships are a huge part of the experience. You’ll be able to command different types, engage in sea battles, and even board enemy ships for up-close fights. The world is procedurally generated, meaning every island and region will feel unique, encouraging exploration.
Survival won’t just be about food and water—you’ll need to manage your crew, craft weapons, and adapt to both natural dangers and hostile enemies. Combat is skill-based, with dodging, parrying, and counterattacks playing a big role.
The devs also talked about the game’s factions, hinting at power struggles between pirate clans, empires, and supernatural forces. It sounds like player choices will have a big impact on how the story unfolds.
With a playtest coming soon, the team is still tweaking the game based on feedback. If you want to read the full devblog, check it out here: Crosswind Devblog #1.
